Description: A simple summer top with wide raglan lines and side details.

Garment type: Top

Sizes in pattern: XS to 5XL

Yarn weight: DK

Yardage: 770-1245 yds for plant-based yarns, add at least 200 yds for non-plant yarns (per designer)

Needles: US 6/4 or sizes to obtain gauge. Larger size needles in 16” and longer depending on size made, and longer (for magic loop), or double pointed/flex needles, or small circumference (10 or 12”) circulars. Two or three sets of larger needles may be desired for 2nd class onward. Smaller needles in 16” and longer (for magic loop), or double pointed/flex needles, or small circumference (10 or 12”) circulars.

Supplies needed: Pattern, yarn, preferred type of needles to make gauge and 2 sizes smaller for rib sections, extra cords with stoppers OR barber cord OR scrap yarn, locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, notepad. Optional: gram scale, crochet hook or stitch fixer tool.

Gauge: 20 x 29 in 4x4 square in stockinette, washed and blocked.

Skill level: Intermediate

Skills taught: Make 1 Left, Make 1 Right, lifelines, personal fitting, icord bind off.

 Techniques: Knit, purl, make 1 left and right, raglan increases, personal fitting.


Prep for class – make gauge swatch, washed and blocked, to get correct gauge with larger size (6) needles. Read through pattern, noting your size instructions and jotting down any questions you might have. View the videos as desired.

For first class, knit the collar rib as instructed (with the smaller needles after determining gauge with the larger needles) and be ready to start on the raglan portion of the top.

Instructor Bio: Barb has been knitting since 2016, crocheting since the 1980s. She has taught a wide range of fiber (embroidery, clothing, knitting) and fine arts in a variety of venues since the 1980s. She has been teaching knitting classes at Hooked since 2019.
