The Age of Brass and Steam: A Beginner's Shawl
In this class we will be making The Age of Brass and Steam, a beginner level shawl which will introduce basic concepts of shawl construction.
This class is great for those novice knitters who have completed items such as hats or scarfs, and want to apply their skills to a piece which requires more shaping.
Materials needed:
- A copy of the pattern (found here)
- 160 grams (approx. 2 100 gram hanks) of DK weight yarn
- US 8 cicular needles w/ 24”-32” cord
- Circular stitch markers
- Locking stitch markers
- Darning needle
Please complete a gauge swatch before class (see pattern for gauge instructions/requirements).
NOTE: There will be a one week break after the second class to give time to catch up.

| Skill Details: | Learn to create symmetrical shaping, increases (M1R, M1L, KFB), garter tab cast on, keeping track of your stitch count. |
| Materials Included: | Please see Materials List that must be purchased prior to class. |
| Requirements: | Able to knit, purl, yarn over. Can tell the difference between stockinette and garter fabric. Familiar with basic increases and/or willingness to learn. |
