Getting Gauge

A dive into understanding gauge, its importance in knitting, and tips and techniques on developing more consistent gauge to ensure the best possible outcomes of your projects.
Materials:
- Pre-made gauge swatch (see homework below)
- Knitting needles (US 8)
- Scrap wool yarn - worsted weight, light solid or semi-solid color (avoid black, navy blue or variegated yarns)
- Knitting gauge tool
- Tape measure
HOMEWORK:
With your scrap yarn and US 8 needles, create a gauge swatch in stockinette stitch:
- Cast on 40 stitches
- R1(RS): Knit
- R2 (WS): purl
- Repeat R1 and R2 until piece measure 4” inches from cast on.
Class Requirements:
- Participants must have confidence in their abilities to execute knit and purl stitches.
- Participants must have an understanding of how to read their stitches.
- Participants must bring all the requested materials to the session.
