Brioche Knitting Basics - Flat

This 2-hour class is for knitters with intermediate skills. This popular stitch creates a lofty, cushy ribbed fabric. During this workshop, we will concentrate on flat brioche knitting. In this session, you’ll learn how to
- Set up for the brioche stitches;
- “bark” and “burp” your stitches;
- one-color and two-color brioche stitch;
- measure your gauge; and
- Tink or "Unknit" brioche stitches and pick-up dropped stitches.
Materials:
- Two contrasting colors of yarn in (DK, Worsted, or Aran weight) – stash yarn of about 30 to 50 grams each color (lighter, plain/solid color preferred) – Split each color into 2 balls each. Avoid black, dark blue, or other very dark colors.
- 24” inch Circular needles (Size US 8 through 10 – your preference depending on the yarn weight)
- measuring tape
- crochet hook or stitch picker for picking up dropped stitches.
Homework: Please come to class 25 stitches cast on (long-tail cast on is sufficient) on the 24” needle set.
